Riding a motorcycle at speed invites one of life’s most profound experiences. Living as it does in that narrow space between danger and exultation, a fast motorcycle represents one of modern life’s last anchors to something ancient and timeless. Done well, riding a fast bike on a good road holds the power to put a rider in a state of exalted grace.

Jeff Hughes wrote for Sport Rider magazine for eight years and, during that time, described that magic better than nearly anyone else. In this book you will find the complete collection of his stories that appeared there, including such iconic features as Degrees of Control, The Devil on My Shoulder, The Most Honest Place I Know, and the title piece The Razor’s Edge. Part cautionary tale, part joyous recollection, in these 53 stories Hughes puts us on the seat behind him and entertains, edifies, and educates--even as he offers rare insight into the world’s finest sport.

It was a great read....Fast and smooth. Providing Jeff's keen incite into all things with two wheels and a handle bar. Now we know why he rides in the middle of the pack....It is so he can hand with us and not blow us off the mountain..LOL

Perfect for a true mc addict.
Hughes is able to articulate the reasons for feeling what we experience as the speedometer climbs and our senses are invaded by primal fear and ultimate exhilaration!
If your a sport rider this book is a must have! Jeff puts sport riding into words like no one else. I absolutely loved this book and I will reread it many times over.
I've been riding Appalachian "invisible roads" for a long time. Jeff Hughes has captured the essence of motorcycling these roads with clarity, wisdom, and heart. The book is a masterpiece. Bravo Jeff Hughes!
A good read, but too much drama. Sadness.
If this stuff happened to me I would quit riding... instead I put the book down half way and quit reading.
For those who have sat in the saddle for more than a decade, this book stirs your soul to life. It puts into words the feeling that causes us to lean closer to the road.
As a motorcyclist myself for many years, I thought Mr. Hughes' descriptions of the conflict in the minds of most responsible riders between the dangers of riding a fast and powerful motorcycle, and the utter thrill of doing the same thing was expressed in very powerful and almost poetic prose. The theme ran throughout the book but I never got tired of it. Everyone who rides or is even considering entering the sport should benefit from reading this book. Well done Mr. Hughes!
